New and Familiar Faces Join Town Council, Bond Passes
Voters decide on the Three Holly Springs Council Seats and the $100 million bond
On Tuesday, voters in Holly Springs, elected three individuals to the town council, and they also supported the $100 million Parks & Rec bond referendum. Here are the key details about the election results and the bond referendum:
Chris Deshazor a long-time member of the planning board will be joining the council. Deshazor also served on other town-related boards.
Danielle Hewetson will also join the town council. She had been filling the seat vacated by Kristi Bennett, and instead of running to fill the two years left on Bennett's term, she decided to run for the four-year term.
Annie Drees will fill the two-year seat that was vacated by Kristi Bennett. Drees does not have prior experience serving on a town board, but she is a part of her neighborhood’s Homeowners Association (HOA) and several community boards.
The swearing-in ceremony for the council members will take place in December.
Voters also supported a Parks & Rec bond referendum. The town is preparing to share the next steps for the $100 million bond with an open house scheduled for November 16th. The majority of the bond money is intended to be allocated for the new Cass Holt Road facility and park. According to a town newsletter, construction for this project is set to begin in 2026.
