Holly Springs Updates: Wegmans Progress, Eagles Landing, and Community Priorities
Tracking Progress on Local Developments and Key Community Initiatives in Holly Springs
Wegmans is still coming to Holly Springs. During the January 21st Town Council meeting, the grocery store's continued interest was confirmed as part of a consent agenda item. The council quickly approved a 6-month extension for the Wegmans development plan to build on Ralph Stephens Road next to Lowe’s Home Improvement.
The Wegmans development group requested this extension in December, stating plans to start construction in mid-to-late 2026.
Town employees expect a final extension request in August, after which the development team is likely to share construction drawings with the town. Originally approved in April 2019, the project has been delayed for nearly seven years.
Eagles Landing
While Wegmans plans move slowly, another project in Holly Springs is gaining momentum. The construction phase of the new Eagles Landing Park is only months away, but first the council needed to approve the construction budget for one part of the project. The approved budget for this phase is just over $20 million, covering key elements of the park’s construction.
We also got our first look at the new design plans for the exterior. Eagles Landing Park will be located on 56 acres and will include indoor and outdoor recreation facilities and a skatepark.
Legislative Priorities
During the meeting, the council identified key projects they aim to address with county, state and federal leaders.
Here’s a look at the list:
Councilman Dan Berry laid out each priority. The video below highlights Councilman Berry’s detailed explanation of these priorities.
If you didn’t watch the video, Berry discussed a variety of topics:
Wake County Schools reassignment process (addressing overcrowding and balancing resources)
Wake County Schools safety (including discussions around School Resource Officers, or SROs)
Library improvements to better meet community needs
Improvements at the post office.

Aggressive Dog
A resident attended public comment to ask about what’s being done about an aggressive dog in town. This issue has raised concerns among residents about safety and animal control policies in the area. WRAL covered the issue in December, highlighting concerns over safety. Mayor Sean Mayefskie assured residents that the police are actively investigating and monitoring the situation, although the dog has not been sighted recently.
