Nailing the Look: Eagles Landing Park
Holly Springs Town Council get an update on the design plan for the future park and weigh in on the design plans
Smiles and lots of chatter accompanied the discussion of design plans for the future Eagles Landing Park during the Holly Springs Town Council workshop. The construction on the facility is scheduled for early next year, but the finishing touches on the design still need to be done.
During the October 8th workshop, Infrastructure and Environmental Services Project Engineer Carrie Kennedy along with Parks and Recreation Planner Matt Beard shared indoor and outdoor design plans.
The project's $100-million facility will be two stories with enough outdoor space to accommodate exercise rooms, pickleball and basketball courts, a splash pad and a skate park. Beard outlined other projects that could become optional if the facility begins to run over budget.
The name, Eagles Landing, was selected by the town council during the annual mayor and council retreat in February. The former 56-acre farm land was bought by the town in 2020. The project is being funded through the November 2023 Parks and Recreation bond. Some of the bond money will be used to upgrade other park facilities around Holly Springs.
During the workshop meeting, council members debated between the two elevation options for the front of the building, ultimately preferring elevation A:
What’s Next
The project is in the final stages of the design and permitting phase. The council will be asked to make some approvals related to this phase during upcoming council meetings. The council will also need to approve the process of obtaining funds for the bond. Beard created a website to allow all residents to keep up with the project.

The design plans also won the 2024 North Carolina APA Planning Award in the Great Healthy Places category.
The old farmhouse currently on the property is expected to be moved in late October outside of town after being sold to its highest bidder.
Nice write-up - especially informative timeline in there.
As a Holly Springs resident, I appreciate your reporting on this.
